St.-Jakobs-Platz 1, Munich
Very nice and cozy cafe
Very nice and rustic location in the middle of the city, but price-performance ratio not justified for the quality. Find € 4.20 for a dry poppy seed cake very expensive !? Have eaten better where the price was justified.
An institution. Always cozy and simply good!
Terrible Service. Bad cakes. Cynic staff without any education. Avoid!
Super nice decor - tone in tone - everything kept RED. Top milk cafe with oat milk.
Very unfriendly, inflexible service, food overpriced, but at least a nice place in the courtyard.
Nice café on Jakobsplatz. Very tasty cake and nice service! Unfortunately, our table, which we sat at after other guests got up, was cleared but not wiped or disinfected. In addition, it took a long time before we could pay, as the waiter seemed to be responsible for all the tables. Not his fault, just a little tightly calculated. Card payments from € 20 and up are also not in keeping with the times. But you can definitely take a break here :)
Very nice courtyard, good food always worth a visit.
Still a great café in the middle of the city. Unfortunately something overpriced: lukewarm espresso € 2.50, piece of cake € 4.20. Adequate?
Great atmosphere in the courtyard
Google always asks how what Stadtcafe. It was great, every single time I'm there it's great. Now stop asking, now you know.
Today at 3 p.m. unfortunately a very, very (!) Unfriendly person in the service outside: was very annoyed because I was responsible for the few tables and spoke to me and my girlfriend (who was having circulatory problems) so unfriendly that I spoke to them had to ask if she was very reluctant to do her job! Not a single friendly word (!) Came from her, just unfriendliness up to 3: Seldom has such a snappy service staff experienced in the catering trade as today! It is absolutely out of place ... Then we left the restaurant without ordering anything.
Try chocolate gugelhupf
very bad service, you had to beg for a waitress to get rid of your order and get the city cafe sales, cake was OK, coffee well, value for money, 1 star is only for the cake
The service on June 28th. From 2pm to 4pm was great! Attentive, quick and super friendly! We wanted to stay for a beer and stayed for dinner. Excellent! Prices for beer 4.20 € in the city class.
I looove this place. You can always rely on food.Best sandwiches in the city.Nothing in particular special with service but they're always nice enough! Vast variety of papers&magazines they offer on site but not available since covid regulations.Maybe again in the future. It was something genuine about the place.
Nice place inside and out for a relaxed coffee.
Plenty of space as well as in the shady museum courtyard and on the sunny St-Jakobs-Platz. Moderate prices and extra large milk coffee always at its finest
Interesting location, close to the Viktualienmarkt and yet a little quieter. Friendly service (despite face mask and corona pads). The linguine from the day menu, however, was overcooked and dry. There is at least one star deduction.
I went there for dinner yesterday with my girlfriend. Was there alone in the afternoon. It is apparently always well attended. The food and drink are good to very good. The service is friendly, attentive and quick. The price / performance ratio fits well. Gladly again!
We were there late evening and were properly served. The food served us well. If the chefs in the surrounding pubs are already finishing work, then you should go here.
Nice place to have a quiet coffee break, just a short distance from the bustle of Marienplatz. Had a very tasty and large latte. Service was polite and put up with English and my very basic tourist German vocabulary. A nice place to have an afternoon break and not feel rushed to leave.
Regular Cafe, coffee was good. Very busy and noisy. The atmosphere was kind of unmemorable. Staff was fast in providing the service.
Terrible service! I use to visit this place quiet often and for years this has been one of my top 10 Cafés in the city. Now everything has changed. I was waiting for 15 min to be even noticed, I was hunting the waiter to get my order and after 10 min more I left without success. Be ready to wait ling for your order, the bill and you meal. Sad, sad, sad!
Nice
Gut
Vast selection of cakes, few and sometimes none vegan though. Nice outdoor seating both in the front (sunny until late afternoon) and in the backyard with a different but in both cases very nice atmosphere.
The StadtCafe is an alternative to more known coffee & cake locations in the city centre. These days the "Zwetschgendatschi mit Sahne" ist highly recommended to try there. Similar to other coffee locations and restaurants, one can sense stressed staff, which overall does not add a positive atmosphere to this location...
Nice place .
Love this place! Best cafe we experienced in the Zentrum (went 3x in a week!). In Filmmuseum building with a very cozy seating area. Wonderful ambience. Food is simple (sandwiches/panini, soup, salad, cake and full coffee/tea and alcohol bars). Waiters are not overly friendly but very efficient and speak English. Recommend highly for lunch, Kaffee und Kuchen, or a drink.
Very nice had a lovely traditional German breakfast, and I found the place extremely friendly.
Best place in town
Short letter but very good and with an excellent price. Great service. Next to Marienplatz but without crowds.
When being near this place, I love to hangout here for a while, have a cake and a coffee, or a snack. Service could be a bit faster, otherwise wonderful.
Nice cafe for people who like culture
Always crowded and expensive but nice atmosphere and staff.
Desserts are really good.
Great nice place
Inner courtyard nice oasis from the bustle.
Well, this is a really good place in the Munich city centre.
Ok service but food can be pricy and also a bit sketchy. Had the most dry falafel in my life.
30 minutes to get the "tagespasta"... but good food.
The last time I visited here I had an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons. We were waiting for a movie in the Kinomuseum with my wife who was 8 months pregnant. My wife told me she was very thirsty so we decided to sit down for a drink. After trying to get the waiters' attention for 5-10 minutes, I decided that it was quicker to walk up to the bar. However, the stuff at the bar turned a blind eye to me, until one of them told me to wait at my table. At that moment I saw a tray with many glasses of water. I asked a waiter if that was tap water, and after he confirmed, took one to return with it to my thirsty pregnant wife. At that moment I heard a very harsh and loud voice commanding "put it down!" I turned to see a man who later turned out to be the manager of the café. I was a shocked about the commanding voice and paused, glass in my hand, trying to understand what was going on. I looked at the man and waited for an explanation. The man turned red and shouted even louder "Hände weg! Du nimmst mir hier nichts weg!" ("Put your hands away! Don't you dare taking anything from me!"). I tried to remain calm and asked what was the matter. The man shouted again "Put it down I told you! Was that not clear enough?!" I had an incredible urge to splash the water into his red face, but restrained. I put down the glass and told the man what he deserved to hear in the most civilized manner I could conjure. I turned to the other waiters who gathered at the scene and looked at me apologetically. Then I asked if the man was the manager, and if this was the way he always treated customers. The first question was answered with yes, the second didn't need an answer - it was enough to see the looks at the waiters' faces to know that was a yes. I recommend avoiding this place by all means.
The food is tasty, the location is good, the place is little bit noisy but this is ok. The location on the map is incorrect and it was not easy to find for the first time. No credit cards - only cash. I would return for the vegetarian soup.
Great location and mostly relaxed atmosphere. Can be a bit noisy. The coffee could have been tastier and warmer.
A cosy place with good posters about events in Munich. Best place in the center for a talk in relaxed atmosphere.
We were there at 15.30 on Monday the 29th of January. The waiter , wo was attending the tables, was more than impolite and unprofessional. First of all we had to call him because after 15 minutes waiting, nobody had asked us what we wanted. When he finally came, we asked for a coffee with warm milk and his answer was that we had to ask for something that were written in the menu. It is not only that the answer is far away from what one expect from a professional, but also that in the menu it is not described which ingredients content each coffee. For sure the man is not the owner from the place. At the end we didn't drink anything. Amazing but true
A cool cafe with an excellent selection of food and cake. This is not a coffee shop it's a classic cafe with comfy chairs, tables or a bar. The waiters are a bit slow but they are excellent in service and it did not made my experience less good. The restroom for lady's is clean and a diaper change table is available.
Best service in a long time! Blond waiter in his early 30s could read every wish from my lips. Very polite and courteous, you like to tip! Even the food was quite acceptable for a café. 5 Stars
Good: the ambient is very pleasant and it's probable that you meet nice people there. The cafe is placed in a nice part of city so by walking around the cafe you can do some sightseeing as well. Not so good: we went there for brunch but the variety of breakfasts they have is really limited. The price is ok but it doesn't match the quality (the food and drinks we had was not worth the price). The staff are ok but not too friendly.
